Penn-Trafford notebook: Season tickets for sale online

Those interested in purchasing season passes, student flex (10-game) passes or individual game tickets for all Penn-Trafford varsity home games can do so online through GoFan, which is located on ptwarriors.org. Football tickets are $7 per game and field hockey, soccer and volleyball matches are $6 for adults and $3 for students. Tickets are also available at the gate and at high school lunch periods at the athletic office. Warriors hold off Norwin Ben Grabowski rushed for 188 yards and three touchdowns, and Penn-Trafford defeated Norwin, 34-31, in the season opener. Norwin turned the ball over five times, including one on the goal line in the final minute. Franklin Regional girls tennis seeking section championship

The Franklin Regional girls tennis team still has section title aspirations despite sustaining an early loss. The Panthers graduated five of seven starters from the 2024 team. Returning are No. 1 singles player Michelle Yan and Anika Jadia at first doubles. Both are seniors. Yan was a WPIAL singles qualifier who lost to three-time champion Mia Williams of Penn-Trafford. Second-year coach Kevin Fisher said the team is green, but the new faces are starting to step up. Fisher took over the girls a year ago, replacing his dad Howard who coached the Panthers for 43 years. Kevin Fisher took over the boys' program in the spring of 2024. The Trib 10 small school power rankings remain intact from last week with the same 10 teams and only one minor move from a week ago. The big school power rankings " not so much. The only move in the small school Trib 10 came when Imani Christian knocked off North Catholic in a battle of Class 3A unbeaten teams, dropping the Trojans from No. 5 to No. 6. But there were changes aplenty in the big school power rankings, including two teams exiting and two team debuting. The doubles team of senior Annabelle Aquino and sophomore Elle LeJeune captured the Section 1-3A title Sept. 25. The pair defeated Latrobe's Carlin Bukovac and Allison Massaro 6-7 (9), 6-4 and 6-4 in the semifinals. They rallied from a 4-1 deficit in the second set. They then breezed past the Norwin duo of Bayleigh Vilage and Cassandra Halaszynski, 7-5, 6-1 in the finals. Bukovac and Massaro finished third by defeating Franklin Regional's Michelle Yan and Sofia Palombo 6-3, 6-1. Vilage and Halaszynski won their semifinal 6-3, 2-6 and 6-3. Also last week, the Warriors girls tennis team dropped a 3-2 decision to Franklin Regional and ended up third in Section 1-3A behind Latrobe and the Panthers. The feature match to get the ball rolling in Section 1-2A is a rematch of the district finals last fall. A year ago, Quaker Valley went a perfect 14-0 to win the section crown, finishing two games ahead of runner-up Hopewell. No. 1-seeded Quaker Valley did not lose a game in eliminating Keystone Oaks, Ellwood City and Southmoreland to reach the 2A finals.
